Universal Health Coverage and Primary Health Care Short Course Training

A ten-day training, "Universal Health Coverage and Primary Health Care: the Best Health Practice in Thailand was opened by FPH-MU Dean Tanasugarn for 20 public health officers from the Ministry of Health, Royal Government of Bhutan in the Kanda Vathanophas Room, Building 4, Phaya Thai Campus. After warmly welcoming the participants, The Dean introduced Mahidol University and the Faculty of Public Health. Deputy Dean for International Relations and Networking, Associate Professor Dr Mathuros Tipayamongkholgul led an ice breaker and set expectations for the Program. The remainder of the morning, Dr Chakarat Pittiyawonganon, Director, Thailand MOPH-U.S.CDC Collaboration,Ministry of Public Health discussed the Thai health system and its evolution. That afternoon, Associate Professor Dr Orapin Singhadej, Senior Advisor to the Dean and former head of the Bhutan Regional Office in WHO's SE Asian Region, discussed, "Health Promotion Evolution of the Thai Primary Health Care System". In addition to lively discussions on global health issues, e.g., urbanization, health inequity, health promotion, alternative medicine and the universal health coverage scheme, the Bhutanese delegation will study a local health security fun in Kanchanaburi and visit the District Health Board in Tawoong Hospital Lopburi and explore primary health care services.
