Global Health Course between Health and Global Policy Institute - Japan and the Faculty of Public Health, Mahidol University, Thailand

The Faculty of Public Health, Mahidol University and Health and Global Policy Institute-Japan (HGPI) continued the online collaboration project which has one online lecture and one group work session each month until September 2021. The program has five groups and each group presents the topic as allotted by the program. During this session, participants discussed about migrant health issues and the topic was presented by Dr. Reiko Hayashi, Deputy Director-General, National Institute of Population and Social Security Research (IPSS) July 14, 2021.

July 29, 2021, the group work was facilitated by group E and the theme of the discussion was analyzing the situation of SDG 10.7.2 and challenges and health situation of migrants in Japan and Thailand. For group activities, participants discussed migrant health issues from the perspectives of global organizations, policy makers, health care providers and the private sector.

All participants were present for the lecture during the pandemic. The session was also attended by Deputy Dean of International Relations and Networking; Assoc. Prof. Dr Orawan Kaewboonchoo, Assoc. Prof. Dr Kwanjai Amnatsatsue, Lect. Dr. Vallerut Pobkeeree and Officers from the International Relations Unit (IRU).

The project has four phases: Online workshops and lecture (February to September 2021), Research Phase (October 2021 to April 2022), Fieldwork (May to July 2022) in Thailand and Japan and Advocacy work (August to September 2022).

The project is funded by the Toyota Foundations, Japan and is coordinated by collaboration between the IRU, Faculty of Public Health, Mahidol University and HGPI-Japan.
